Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm putting together a PC for someone I know. Ive been trying to make it as budget friendly as possible because hes on a really tight budget. For this I've been using older intel stuff instead of the AMD I'm used to. 

 

I paid 18 dollars for an old OEM HP motherboard on Ebay. (foxconn 2abf i believe) I used an old Pentium G640 i had lying around and it worked ok but the more i tested this system the more i came to realize that it REALLY bottlenecked the GT 1030 i put in. So i bought a new CPU, an i7 3770.

 

Me, being the idiot i am, didnt check to see what gen it was. So apparently my new i7 is "Ivy Bridge" and my MOBO is "Sandy Bridge" now i have this nice i7 in my cabinet and a crappy CPU in the computer. Is there ANY WAY i can make this cpu work? (BIOS update???) My idiot self already bought it and im stuck with it. Cant return it.

 

They're both lga 1155 btw.

If we do not know the model of the motherboard, we may have difficulty answering

but if it doesn't work one or the other is defective, or incompatible
