I'd like to know if there are any BIOS versions that give me a reasonable amount of control over my hardware? The current generation of BIOS is a disappointment; it's stripped down and locks out most options. Not looking for over-clocking, I'm looking for REAL control options, aside from System Date and Time, and Load Defaults.

@HosersExMachina , welcome to the forum.
HP has their motherboards made to their specifications. They use the motherboards in many different models. For this reason, they limit the options in the BIOS to keep the number of problems to a minimum. The average person using your computer would be mainly surfing the Internet or Facebook. If you want a BIOS that has many different options you will have to buy one of HP's gaming computers. They are made to be upgraded and tweaked.

Well, adding RAM and another video card in a Pavilion isn't all THAT different from adding RAM or a video card an Omen. If anything, adding both RAM and my 1050ti took only 5 minutes. I understand the 'why', I just would love to learn that ' Yeah, there's a PowerUser/Non-Noob firmware for... '
If there isn't, one more reason to avoid cheap Pavillions... I'm already bent out of shape at the use of an i3.

@HosersExMachina, you are absolutely correct about the ease of upgrading the memory and video card. It simply wouldn't be worth the time and effort to build a BIOS/UEFI that would only be used by users like you and me. I believe that you would find that HP is not the only OEM manufacturer who minimizes the BIOS in their less expensive computers. It is difficult and expensive to develop them for minimal use by their customers.

I guess the question then becomes :
Does anyone know of a BIOS/UEFI version with proper settings and control of devices that works on the higher end machines that ALSO works with the device I have listed as My Device?
Since HP uses the same board in multiple devices, across multiple platforms, I assume there's gotta be some cross-compatibility.

@HosersExMachina, no, it is not recommended to use a BIOS from another model. Each model has its own characteristics that are not normally compatible with the other models, though it is the same motherboard. It would be an easy way to brick your motherboard. Then, you would have a good boat anchor. I don't mean to sound so negative, but I have been on these Forums for 18+ years and have seen all of the problems caused by using incorrect components or BIOS'es.
