Best graphics card upgrade for HP Pavillion Elite m9500f

I want to upgrade my graphics card and PSU to play games like Assassin's Creed 4 and Saints Row 4.  I currently have a HP Pavillion Elite model m9500f with a Nvidia GeForce 9500 GS.  I want to keep the video card in the $100-$150 range. Any help would be appreciated!

Chefjeff, welcome to the forum.

Here is a card that appears to be what you need.  Read the Customer Reviews to see what users have to say about it.

I would suggest a PSU with at least 500W; 600W would be better for future upgrades.  I like OCZ and Corsair PSU's.  They will provide clean, stable power to your system.

I would definitely agree with old_geeksters card! Great card for the value. But if you really want the most for your buck, a 650 ti would be money better spent. The ti versions of the card have more cuda cores and texture units to them.

Links to cards:

ti GPUs are overclocked and have features the non-ti versions don't have. This means you get more for your money and the cards will perform way better than their non-ti counterparts. This is usually a 40% increase of performance.

Personally, I've only ever had one Gigabyte card before, and a few EVGA (curently running one) and ASUS cards so I would say stick with one of them (EVGA as old_geekster too suggests because ASUS ends up charing more for the same or less) out of the three but that's up to you. Smiley Happy

Review this site for Assasins Creek 4 performance requirements.  Review the recommended video card.

Review this site for Saints Row 4 performance requirements. Review the recommended video card.

The best graphics card might only mean what you need or how much do you what to spend. Additionally the higher monitor resolutions and higher game settings might require a higher performing card.

This performance verses cost comparision chart at Passmark might provide more insight for your decision.

Right now the AMD 7790 would be a better buy compared to the 650TI but the 7790 might not even be enough for Assassin Creek 4 depending on the monitor resolution and game settings.

The overall video card performance ranking as of 1/1/2014 can be found on Passmark at this link.
