Hello,
bit of a novice but learning all the time as this has become my pastime since retirement.
I have a z820 should I update the bios, from J63 Vo3. 69 ?
to the latest version? I have read in some cases they intended to brick ?
also I have a duel board and would like to upgrade to two CPU as I only have one
what is the max CPU this board will support Boot Block 03/06/2013
thank you.

Hi.
Your workstation is a UEFI PC and installing the updated BIOS is very unlikely to cause any issues. Back in the days of pre UEFI PCs your concern would have definitely been valid.

The web page at the hyperlink below this line shows compatible processors for your workstation garnered from thousands of other owner of the very same PC.

An old thread in the forum discusses the Boot Block issue.
From HP's @Dan_WGBU "If the BIOS boot block date is 03/06/2013, the Z620 supports the E5-26xx V2 CPUs and the older versions (Ivy Bridge and Sandy Bridge)."
The thread is a good read considering what you are doing in regard to your workstation.
