HP Recommended

I know this may have been answered or similar asked 

but is the "WLAN" slot on the motherboard just a plain old M.2 PCIe slot, will this also work for SSDs (even if its slow), or Cellular Modems? etc?

I can't find any reliable information on what the slot really is
