C drive full

HP ENVY All-in-One - 27-b025se
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP All in One Desktop model V9B08AA.   All my programs are stored on the C drive (Disk 0 - 237 GB) and data is stored on D drive (Disk 1 - 1.8 TB).  At the time, I thought I was purchasing a 2 TB system to allow for growth with sufficient storage space for all files and programs - I was never really comfortable with the  2 disk design.  It seemed to work fine up until recently, when I tried to update windows.  That is when I noticed how small & full my C disk was.  It is clearly maxed out; even after deleting unimportant programs and temporary files, it is still full and not allowing me to download updates, print etc.  Even though the D drive has plenty of free space, I cannot repartition/reallocate the space since there are 2 individual drives.  This just seems like a serious design flaw.

I assume I will need to purchase a MUCH larger C drive, clone my existing (very small) C drive and migrate everything over; however, I am A) unsure which drive I need to purchase that will work with my system and B) not very confident I will be able to successfully clone/swap out my OS drive.  Please advise on how to do this.  THANKS!!!!

@user398

Personally I only use 500GB devices.  And I agree, I do not like the  2 drive system as too many owners DO NOT know how to allocate the folders to that 2 TB drive, as intended by WIN 10.

PS<> under NO circumstances change any folder location to an external device.
