Product: HP P7-1003W
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was going to upgrade the processor in my P7-1003w.  The motherboard is here https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02560084

When I look at the upgrade info guide, it says:

  • Max TDP: 95W
  • Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
    NOTE: 
    Only Socket AM3 processors are supported with this motherboard.
    • AMD Phenom II X6 10xxT Six-Core (Thuban core)

So I bought an AMD Phenom II X6 1090t, put it in, and I get an error CPU Unsupported.  I upgraded the power supply in the desktop itself too.  Now the 1090t uses 125w, and I know the guide says 95w, but since I upgraded the power supply, does that mean I can use the 125w processor or can I only go up to a max of 95w no matter what?

The board is limited to 95W chip.

BIOS updates are linked to the original OS.

In your case,  the BIOS is ver 6x.  It was never issued past WIN 7.

That unit is circa 2011. It does not have the capability of using the newest UEFI BIOS (required a BIOS) beyond your unit.

After all these years, what was your goal.  It could never accept a UEFI (GTX 710 -1080) graphic card, if that was your intent.

Just trying to get the maximum out of this unit.  There is already a gtx 1080 in it, ssd, and I wanted to bump the proc to the best it can accept.
