Hello!
I have an HP a6720y with M2N78-LA (Violet - 504879-001) motherboard. I understand this is a very old machine but it is doing the job of home computer (no gaming, just programming and some basic usage). I brought about a minor improvement by adding NVIDIA Quadro K600 GPU a couple months ago ($27 refurb) and it has been working out well.
This machine originally came with Phenom X4 9550 CPU. Although the current processing power is enough for me, i was wondering if this machine is capable of upgrading to any of the Phenom II X4 processors? I am able to secure a used Phenom II X4 920 processor for around $25 but not quite sure if this will work with my machine. Can i please get some guidance on this? If not this processor, any of the other Phenom II X4 processors i could use?
Thank you!
