Pavilion 500-250t
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Usually I use an air can to remove dust from my desktop pc. Three days ago I used a special vacuum to do it. The PC has worked flawlessly for 5 years. Everytime I boot now it says "CPU fan not detected - F1". I read other posts, opened the side panel and started the desktop to make sure the fan is working. Seems fine. Someone suggested upgrading the BIOS in a post. I am cautious to not create new problems. Does anyone have a solution or suggestions? Thanks.

Greetings,

Welcome back to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

I can't find a 500-250t. Not a big deal, just wanted to check for BIOS updates.

Did you use a vac or a blower?

Check/reseat the fan connection to the MB fan header. Reset the BIOS to defaults. Or you could pull the CR2032 MB battery.

Let the PC sit for a while.

Reinstall the MB battery. This will reset CMOS.

Very frustrating when you are proactively taking care of your PC and then something bad happens that appears to be a result of your actions.

I have been there.

Thanks for the quick response.

I used a vac. What does MB stand for?
