Product: Pavilion M1180.uk
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista

Hi there , 

 

I have a  Pavilion M1180.uk . 

 

The current Processor is only 32 bit (Intel 910 Series Chipset) . I was wondering if its possible to upgrade it to a 64 Bit processor ,, what processor would I use to upgrade ... and would the existing hardware be compatible if it was upgraded to 64 bit.

@MrD2021 -- is your computer really still running Microsoft Windows Vista?  

 

Your computer probably was manufactured between 2007 (when Vista became available) and 2011 (when Windows 7 become available). How old is the disk-drive? Ten years, or even more? It's good that it is continuing to operate.

 

Instead of throwing money at a new motherboard, and a new processor, consider that XMAS 2021 is only 3 months away. I recommend that you start looking for a brand-new computer that is advertised as "ready for Windows 11". It can run Windows 10 (supported until October 2025). At any time next year, or later, you can install the free upgrade to Windows 11. 

 

P.S. If you change the motherboard, the product-key for Windows Vista will not be able to be activated on the new motherboard -- the product-key is "tied" to the motherboard, and it "dies" when the motherboard is "retired".
