Hey guys! So, I've got one last piece of tinkering to do with my custom HP. I've got the PSU and 4070, airgoo RGB, 120mm fans, everything is going good. My current cpu is the ryzen 7 5700g. I've done some research and I believe the best cpu I can drop in that hits all required metrics is the Ryzen 9 5900 non X variant. It's 65w, am4, the correct chipset, and it's fast. Am I missing something? I want to drop my spectrum cooler in but I want it on the best possible CPU I can get off ebay LOL. Will a ryzen 9 5900 replace my ryzen 7 5700g? Thanks all. When finished and everything mounted I'll be posting a lot of pics.

Geetings!
There is nothing wrong with your reasoning at all: Related Zen 3 CPUs for socket AM4 (cpu-world.com) -it would be something I would try out myself, if I ever were to venture into AMD processor territory/platforms.
However, looking through numerous "HP System Pavilion Desktop TP01-2xxx" benchmarks online, such as here: UserBenchmark: HP Pavilion Desktop TP01-2xxx Compatible Components, the fastest processor any Erica6 motherboard User has made to work remains the Ryzen 7 5700G as specified by HP onto this day.
My suggestion: see if you can purchase a Ryzen 9 5900 you can return to Seller if it doesn't work: yes indeed, it will either work, or it doesn't. No harm done.
Kind Regards,
