Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The cabinet Fan stops running when Windows 10 loads. Only CPU Fan, GPU Fan og PSU fan works. This leads to when running game's to a overheat issue for the CPU when it reaches 90 celsius and above. Because of the cabinet fan not running the warm air stays inside the cabinet.

Have all the latest drivers and bios version according to HP Support Assistant as of 16. october 2020.

I have tried to load bios setup defaults

With HP Omen I monitor the temperature, I know it reaches 90c and above before the computer shuts down because of the heat.

The CPU fan increases in RPM when the temperature increases.

The fan stops when Windows 10 loads, the fan starts if i do a restart of the computer until Windows 10 loads. Seems to be either a Windows 10 issue, driver issue or BIOS issue.

@Tronesvold Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the Cabinet Fan stops running when Windows 10 loads.

I have a few steps to resolve this issue:

Symptoms of heat issues and causes of excessive heat

The following list describes some of the issues caused by overheating in the notebook:

  • Games stop responding during play.

  • Windows stops responding during use.

  • Fans inside the notebook become louder because they are spinning faster as the laptop gets hot, to remove the heat.

  • When starting the laptop, it sometimes stops at a black screen and does not open into Windows. Windows usually stop responding when it does open.

The following list describes some causes of excessive heat:

  • Dust inside the laptop.

  • A new component, such as a hard drive, is added. The extra component causes the power supply to work harder and generate more heat. Extra heat also radiates off the new component and adds to the temperature inside the case.

  • Over time, some cooling fans might slow down and wear out, as the laptop is getting hot, depending on the usage of the laptop.

  • High ambient room temperature.

Step 1: Removing dust and lint by cleaning vents

Step 2: Ensuring proper space for ventilation

Step 3: Updating the BIOS

Step 4: Using HP CoolSense technology

Step 5: Placing the notebook in a cooler room

Step 6: Testing for hardware failure

If the hardware has failed, capture the failure ID and revert for further assistance.

If the Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly, PC is Warmer than Normal: Click here for more details.

Hi, thanks for the respons and suggestions. You suggest 6 steps to resolve the issue, I will comment on those:

Step 1: Removing Dust - Done(before I created the post for help)

Step 2: Proper Space - Done(before I created the post for help)

Step 3: Updating BIOS - Done(before I created the post for help).

Step 4: Use HP Coolsense - This is for laptops, I have a Desktop. The program is not supported on my Desktop and probably none other desktops.

Step 5: The problem is that the fan doesnt rotate after Windows starts, not the temperature of the room 🙂

Step 6: Have been running the test for hardware failure, all passes. And none of the tests are testing the FAN's as I can tell.

The hardware has not failed as it are functional before Windows 10 start up, I still guess it is something with Windows, Drivers or BIOS/Firmware.

Any other suggestions of what the reason can be and tips for a solution?

@Tronesvold

I understand your concerns.

In that case, I would suggets you perform the system reset.

Windows 10 has a reset feature that repairs your computer by reinstalling the operating system. This feature is recommended for recovery because it reinstalls Windows 10 while either preserving your personal data and customizations or removing all your personal data.

You have a choice of two methods to reset your computer.

  • If Windows 10 loads correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset in Windows in this document.

  • If Windows 10 does not start correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset through Windows Recovery Environment in this document.

Have a nice day!
