Yes, I did: Upgrading an HP Z2 Tower G4 Workstation - HP Support Community - 8698680, and a second time: Solved: Upgrading an HP Z2 Tower G4 Workstation Part II - HP Support Community - 8909724.
Type in: System Information in your Windows search bar, and click on the System Information app. To the right of "System Model", you should see: HP Z2 Tower G4 Workstation -or something very similar to this.

Yes:
Some 650-watt models have two 6+2-pin ( 2 x 8-pin) PCIe cables, some have one 6+2-pin and one 6-pin PCIe cables.
Not to worry: both PCIe cables can yield 12V x 18A = 216-watt, meaning, if you got a 6-pin PCIe cable, and you need that to be an 6+2-pin (8-pin) cable, you can use a 6-pin to 8-pin PCIe adapter cable.

Clarification: Some 650-watt power supplies have their PCIe power cables labeled "P5" and "P6", whereas other versions -like my 650-watt power supply, are labeled "P4" and "P5".
Like I mentioned in my previous comment, some 650-watt power supplies are fitted with one 6+2-pin PCIe power cable and one 6-pin PCIe power cable, which is the case with my power supply, where the "P4" PCIe power cable is a 6-pin PCIe cable, and my "P5" PCIe power cable is a 6+2-pin PCIe power cable:

[EDIT:] No, plugging in the "P1" power connector in the "P3" connector does not cause a short as both connectors have identical 4-pin configurations. I plugged in the "P1" in the "P3" slot, and things work fine:
