Can I upgrade my power supply from 300W to 400W

My HP Pavilion 550-033d has a 300W supply. I was thinking if it would be possible to replace the power supply by buying a 400W supply. Currently, I have a gyx 745. I want to replace it with a gtx 750 ti but the 300W power supply is not enough for it to work. Is it possible for me to replace the power supply to 400W? If so, will the 750 ti work now if I have a 400W supply?

Re: Can I upgrade my power supply from 300W to 400W

Hi,

Yes you can replace the power supply with 400 W power supply. Make sure it has 6-pin power connector for the card if it needs one (not all 750ti need the extra power).

In fact if you use the original GTX 750ti produced by Nvidia you do not even need to change the PSU as there will be enough power to power the Graphic card:

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-750-ti/specifications

Only if you choose to buy a gtx 750ti from different manufacturer (overclocked) with the need for 6-pin power connector I would recommend to change the power supply.

Hope it helps,

David
