@Og08

Here is the hp 690-0800no support page.

1) Shut down the unit and remove the power cord.

2) Follow the cables from the DVD drive. It has power and data cables. These cables are usually tucked into the hard drive bay, so you have to carefully follow their individual paths.

3) The data cable goes to a SATA data header on the motherboard, bur there are 2 different locations on the board.  One location is a single (white) header,  and the other has 2 headers side by side. (Blue and light blue)

4) The power cable from the DVD drive is the important cable. This cable is manufactured with a 2nd power plug that supplies the hard drive (if installed).  This cable terminates near the bottom (centered) of the motherboard. It is an 8 pin header, called SATA Power.

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..
