I just installed a new ssd, is there anything special that you have to do to this drive before you clone it?

A true "cloning" process will format the drive with the proper partitions and copy all the data from your current partitions to the new one. There is no prep you have to do for that.
But "cloning" is not simply copying files -- it requires specific software do to this.
Just saying this because folks say "cloning" around here all the time with no idea what it actually means.
