Hi there,
I've inherited this desktop system, working fine but just a bit slow. Installed memory is 2x1 gb ddr2/553mhz and 1x2Gb ddr2/800Mhz.
I've tried to upgrade with 2x4gb ddr2/800mHz but the system won't start, just repeats 5 short beeps.
Apparently, something's wrong with the memory.
Any help would be more than welcome!

Hi:
There is nothing wrong with the memory.
The max memory your PC can take is 4 x 1 GB of DDR2 memory. DDR2-800 memory will run at a max speed of 667 MHz.
Some folks have installed 2 x 2 GB of DDR2 memory in there, but a 4 GB memory module definitely will never work.
See the dc7600 quickspecs below...the memory upgrade info can be found on page 7.
