DisplayPort capabilites on HP's Thunderbolt 120W G2 dock

Hello,

I've recently bought an HP Thunderbolt 120W G2 dock for my office so that I can hook up two monitors using displayport.

Just so we're clear, this is the dock: https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-thunderbolt-dock-120w-g2.

The monitors I am trying to hook up are: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/predator-model/UM.HX1EE.005

These monitors run at 1400p (2560x1440) as high as 144Hz, can be overclocked higher but that's not the case.

Now, the description of the dock mentions 4k @ 60Hz  but will I be able to hook up both of these displays, running 1440p @ 144 Hz using the dock? Because so far I haven't been able.

These monitors have been used at 1440@144Hz before, but on a different PC. Cables are the same so we can scratch that possibility out. 

I can put one to 144Hz but the other will be locked at 24Hz. So far I've managed to balance things out and run 1440p @ 85 Hz.

My question now becomes, is there a limitation of bandwith on the dock? Or is a matter of GPU, or perhaps drivers?

I reviewed your post and I understand that the docking station is not running 2 monitors at 2k resolution with 144Hz.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you refer to the below specifications of the docking station and it will give you a clear picture.

Thank for replying to my question, I wasn't sure I would get an answer but I remained hopeful 🙂

I've seen the product description and my scenario is this:

- monitors have 2560x1440 with 144Hz;

- monitors have DisplayPort v1.2;

- computer has Thunderbolt v3;

I know for sure that Thunderbolt v3 has the necessary bandwidth needed to run two monitors at 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz, so running two monitors at 2560x1440 at 144Hz should technically work. 

I only wanted to know if it's possible to achieve that with this dock (since there are docks that cannot). Because if so then my issue is elsewhere since I am only able to run both monitors at 2560x1440 by 85 Hz.

Yes, the docking station can run both the monitors at 2k. However, I am not sure about 144Hz.
