I don't know much about computers so I recently bought a Samsung nvme 960 Pro SSD thinking I'd be able to simply put it into my desktop. Upon opening, I found out that my PC only works with SATA drives. So I was wondering if an m.2 to SATA adapter would work, or if my system simply isn't built to run that kind of a drive at all, even if the adapter DID work.

Thanks for your time!

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

If all drive manufacturers and adapter manufacturers followed industry standards to the letter -- you could be sure that such an adapter would work; but unfortunately, in the interests of making money, they all cut corners.

What you are proposing is supposed to work, but the only way to know for sure is to try such an adapter.

So, be sure to buy it from some place where you can return it for a full refund -- if it does not work.

Good Luck
