I am getting the "fan not working system will shut down" message on boot up. Idid replace the fan and it seems to be working OK when I remove the side panel. Iwonder if the fan is powered by the CR2032 battery and if the battery might be failing?

The tachometer (RPM) cable at the fan or at the motherboard header may be damaged,. Alternately a loose cable is touching the fan blade. Look at how the side panel attaches to see if it causes a blockage of the fan when re-attached.
The cable should be connected as shown to the "cpu fan". A case fan should also be connected to the "sys fan" header.
You can try swapping the fan connectors CPU and SYS to see if the wording changes on the warning message. Could be a bad fan.
That battery does not affect any of the fans.

Thanks for the response. When I opened the case, I didn't see a "system" fan or connection for one. So I took the disc and hard drive mounts out and found a cooling fan for the hard drive underneath. I guess I connected the wires for this fan incorrectly when I installed a new hard drive as I'm not getting the fan warning when I boot system up. Hopefully, this will resolve the problem. Thanks again.
