@Talofa , welcome to the Community.
Here is a guide to help you connect the second monitor: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04641829#:~:text=Step%201:%20Connect%20the%20second%20display...
Watch the video for an explanation of how to do it.
I can't find any Product Specifications for your computer. It must be too old for HP to furnish this information. For this reason, I don't know which video ports that you have on your computer. However, you don't need a driver to Project the screen to a second monitor. You simply press Windows key + P to open the "Project" menu on the right side of your screen.
Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Hi
thank you for your reply, however, on trying that prior to lodging request, the error msg below appears
"Your PC can't project to another screen. Try reinstalling the driver or using a different video card.
what do you suggest?

Hello
your computer should look like this,
https://h10057.www1.hp.com/ecomcat/hpcatalog/specs/provisioner/05/FT965AA.htm
but i can't see the available video ports there ..?
If you want to connect two displays, apart from the graphics driver, you shouldn't need anything else.
provided you have two video outputs, and connect the screens with the correct cables / connectors (vga, to VGA for example)
Can you therefore specify, what are the video ports available (in my opinion no more than one or two on this type of card integrated into the motherboard I think)
And how and with what do you try to link the screens!
version of windows installed?
[edit] possible this motherboard :
https://www.amazon.fr/HP-S3000-Bureau-Authentique-5189-0652-Irvine-gl6e-492934-001/dp/B014DSIEIY
then if it is this, unless you have modified some components, it is impossible to connect a second screen directly
