HP Community,
I am unemployed and trying to get back into architecture. I've done the research, bought the components and am finding my research was lacking in some areas. I'm not looking to make this computer into a gamer, but a homebrew workstation on a budget.
I've successfully installed a Corsair VX550W PSU (got it out of my old custom tower) via a COMeap adapter. I've added 16GB of HP specific Kingston RAM (for a total of 20GB). I was running a Samsung 860 EVO SSD at 250GB, but for reasons unrelated to the build, am about to replace that with a 500GB model.
I had purchased a Radeon Pro WX 3100 graphics card, but realized that the ePCIx16 only allows 75w through the bus. The Radeon is 50w TBP and requires a 500W PSU. There are no molex connectors on the video card.
So, ultimately, my question is: could there be a such thing as a PSU that is too large a capacity for this MoBo? Or will the MoBo only draw what it needs?
HP MoBo P/N: PCWUP0KCY6J31S
Win10 Home is what I'm running. I'll need to upgrade to Pro.
I'm looking to run Revit LT so I can teach myself the program and maybe free lance from home.
Thank you,
StudioTM
