I tried to update the BIOS via network on my Elitedesk 800 g4 ryzen 5. Although there are no errors as such, the firmware update fails to complete successfully.

The issue is something to do with onboard PD Front1 which the update process states is being updated from 6.8.0 to 6.8.0. It attempts to do this but then proceeds no further.

Any ideas?

I suggest downloading the BIOS version from the driver portal here.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp144001-144500/sp144200.exe

 

Then make certain that the bitlocker admin code is available and pause the Bitlocker (BDE).

 

Now you should be able to install the update manually.
