Is the Ryzen 5 3400G the highest AMD processor you can put into the AMD PRO 560 chipset?

Is the barrier the HP Bios, not the chipset?

Eyeing the Ryzen 7 4700G or 4750G as an upgrade.

I'd bet NO per HP offerings:  HP EliteDesk 805 G6 Desktop Mini PC Specifications Table https://www8.hp.com/h20195/V2/GetPDF.aspx/c06905534

Page cited shows the cpu's are offered in the next iteration of elitedesk.   I have the 705 G5 mini with the 3000 series AMD offerings.   I doubt HP will release a BIOS update to allow the 705 to run the 4000 or 5000 series AMD processors to be installed in the AMD PRO 560 chipset.

My options, sell the 705 if I want more than 4 cores or keep it for what it is.   Its the end of the line for the 705 G5 ... Ryzen 5 3400G.  I would have to buy a new EliteDesk ... no upgrading just the AMD cpu.  🤔

@nightjars -- how much processing power do you want (or need) ?

One of the alternative processors is 4.3 Ghz, with 8 cores.

Compare that much power to driving your Lamborghini to the neighbourhood corner-store -- impressive vehicle, but at a quite-indulgent cost to you.

Never found a 8 core AMD gpu version of the HP 705 G5 Mini in the Ryzen line-up.   Intel had more core count and more folks going after those with cash.   Going up  in the mini series models was not worth $ IMHO.

If I could have caught a fleaBay deal on a G in the 4000 series or perhaps the 5000 series, would enjoy the tinkering.   I don't see HP giving a BIOS update to undermine the sales of the next AMD model release of the mini pc's in the EliteDesk.

Yes, I like the idea of an 8 core ...  If I got a good deal on a Lamborghini, I'd drive it everywhere with a huge smile!   I have a Subaru OB instead, great for SD winters and long trips on the road.

@nightjars -- on that web-page that you cited, I see two 8-core AMD processors:

AMD Ryzen™ 7 PRO 4750GE with Radeon™ Graphics (3.1 GHz base clock, up to 4.3 GHz max boost clock, 8 MB L3 cache, 8 cores);

AMD Ryzen™ 7 PRO 4750G with Radeon™ Graphics (3.6 GHz base clock, up to 4.4 GHz max boost clock, 8 MB L3 cache, 8 cores);
