My Envy CF card reader has stopped working. The SD card reader still works. There are no bent pins and I've tried several cards so that's not the problem. Help?

As I understand you are having issues with CF card reader not working on your HP desktop computer. Don't worry as I have a few steps to help you get through this concern,
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
When was the last time it worked (date)?
Was there any update/reset interrupted recently?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Connect the card reader and put a flash card in it.
On the desktop, right-click the start button. Click Disk Management. The flash card should show up in the disk management list.
It will have no drive letter. In the lower pane of disk management, right click on the flash card in the panel next to the disk number. Click Change Drive Letter and Paths, assign a drive letter to the cf card. Click ok. The card should now show up in explorer.
You might have to do this for all your flash cards.

Thank you so much for responding. I used the CF reader to download less than 12 hours before it stopped. There have been no updates or resets. Performing the steps you listed, "convert to dynamic disk" is my only highlighted option other than "properties" and "help". Since I'm not really sure what dynamic disk is, I'll wait for further instruction.

I see that you were interacting with @Jeet_singh. I'd like to jump in with a suggestion
Let's try a simple device manager tweak which could help you. Here are the steps:
- Move the mouse pointer to the lower-left corner of the screen, right-click, and select Device Manager from the menu.
- Double-click Disk drives to open the category.
- Right-click on all the Generic card reader device name, if any are listed, and select Uninstall.
- Wait until Device Manager updates the list, removing the name of the Generic device.
- Continue uninstalling Generic card reader device names until they are all removed from the list. (No entries under the Disk Driver section)
- Restart the computer and wait for 2-3 minutes while the windows re-installs the drivers automatically.
- Now, try inserting the CF card and check.

Thanks DVortex. Not being all that savvy with the internal workings of a PC, I wanted to be sure what I'm uninstalling is correct. All of the card readers work except for the CF slot. When I do as you instructed, "ST100DM003-1CH162" is the only thing that shows. Is this what I need to uninstall? Just want to make sure that I can atlest get my SD card reader back if I remove it. Thanks again for all the help. Robert

I understand you are still having the issue with the compact flash driver not working and you want to know if the steps what you are doing is the correct one or not, don't worry as I have a few steps which should help you to resolve your concern,
Please go ahead and uninstall the drivers listed under Disk drives and then either you can click on Scan for hardware changes or you can restart the PC. which will install the drivers automatically.
Please perform the step suggested and let me know how it goes.
