HP Intel Core i7 - Product ID 00330-80000-00000-AA394. When booting erratic behaviour with touch screen cursor had challenges to sign in as well click on programs. Problem stopped when i disabled the touch screen. Eventually when i got to log in i received a prompt to sign up with Microsoft.

Hi @Rjo2

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the touchscreen issue.

To better assist you -

1) May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

2) Any hardware or software changes made?

While you respond to that, try these steps -

Step 1 Hard Reset -

1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Unplug all the Adapter and peripherals connected.
3) Remove the Battery.

Note - This step is not applicable for in-built battery.
4) Press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds.
5) Plug-in the Adapter and put the Battery back into the computer.
6) Try to turn on the computer.

Step 2 Re-install the touchscreen drivers -

1)In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
2)Expand the Human Interface Devices heading.
3)The touch screen device is labeled HID-compliant touch screen, or similar. Right-click the touch screen device and select Uninstall.
4)Confirm the uninstallation.
5) Restart the computer to reinstall the touch screen driver.

Also, try updating the computer -

Step 3 Windows Updates -
1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 4 HP Support Assistant Updates -
1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
