Extra memory in pavilion TP01-1540 nd

HP Recommended
Pavilion tp01-1540nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought a Pavilion TP01-1540nd with 8gb memory. I know I can place an extra 8gb memoery modelue.

But infor from the motherboard says:

Memory upgrade information

  • Dual channel memory architecture (One DIMM per channel)
  • Two DDR4 SODIMM (288-pin) sockets
  • Supports up to PC4-23400 (DDR4-2933)
  • Supports 4 GB and 8 GB DDR4 SODIMMs
  • Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit systems

NOTE:

32-bit systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.

  • Supports up to 32 GB (unbuffered) with two 16 GB DIMMs on 64-bit systems

Then it looks like I can place 2 16GB memory modules.

First question: Is that true ?

@nd question. Is it then lso possible, to pu only a 16Gb module besides the existing 8Gb module.

regards Chris

@schults,

What is installed is an 8GB DDR4 2666 module, part # 934254-800. Options are:

1) Find an exact replacement 8GB module.   Now you have (2) 8 GB in dual channel mode.

From Crucial site, pick matching module 32GB kit.  Two 16GB modules.

2) If you only add a single 16GB module,. it has to be a 16GB DDR4 - 2666 from that list.

You put the 16Gb on the other slot.  The system reads 16GB as dual channel (8GB from each paired module). After that, it would revert to single channel mode to read the last 8GB segment of the 16GB module.  Poor choice, IMHO.

NOTE: memory is specific to a computer series/model. It is not an off-the-shelf item.
