Win 11 fully updated to newest version

Latest video driver that works 471.41 (drivers that Win 11 installs when I uninstall device from device manager)

So here is my issue.  When I try to update my video driver to the newest version from Nvidia, driver 511.79, I start having an issue.  As it installs the driver it goes to do the normal restart.  It shuts down just fine then starts to boot back up.  The Omen start up screen comes up with Omen in the center of a black screen.  That blinks off then the screen goes black with a lighter grayish black line across the top.  It doesn't matter if I try to update the drivers from the Nvidia website or from Gforce experience.  From the black screen I have to hit the power button to reset the computer.  This will then boot the computer fine.  I can then use the shut down option from windows and use the power button to turn it back on and it will boot as normal.  If, however, I try to use the restart option from the start menu the computer will shut down fine, go to the Omen load screen, then blink black with they grayinsh black bar at the top again.  If a program has to restart the computer or requires a restart it does the same thing.  I have already tried to reseat GPU and RAM, use DDU, had HP send me their recovery kit to reset my computer to factory, returned the computer and got a new one, and none of this changed.  I try to update driver and I get that same restart issue.  It is not just version 511.79 of the drivers either, no other driver other than 471.41 which is the factory start driver or version 472.12 from the "standard" driver list from Nvidia old driver archive will work.  HP must have sold literally thousands of these computers, yet I cannot find a single thread on any forum about this issue or any issue with them.  Please I am desperate for some help with this.

Hi@TomNC1234,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing GPU driver issues with the OMEN 30L Desktop PC. I apologize for the Inconvenience.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
