GTX 1070 and an HP Z420

Z420
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I know others have posted about this issue, but none of them were fully my issue...

I have an HP Z420 that has a 600w PS, the PS does state G1 and G2, but there is no G2.  I removed everything except for the MB and looked at all the wires and no G2, there is a wire that is ziptied to the front screen but it has no connector on it, so it may have been intended to be the G2, but never had a connector put on.

My GTX 1070 has 1 8 pin power connection.  I bought a 6 to 8 pin adapter but when I put the card in and connect the G1 to the 8 pin adapter, plug it in and boot it up it starts out with the blue light for a few seconds and then starts to blink red and starts beeping.

I did a live chat with an HP support person and they said I have to talk to MSI (card maker) and MSI says that I need to talk to HP about it.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this card to work?

@Scottimus,

Was there an existing graphic card? If so, that needs to be installed and then remove it's software/driver before you remove the prior card.  Here is the manual for installing a high power card in the correct slot.

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..

Thanks for the response Wb2001, didn't see any link or file connected with your post containing the installation of a high power card. I did remove the drivers and still got the same thing, now I am reinstalling windows to see if that helps any.

Link works now, thanks, but it isn't telling me anything I don't know.  I have built many a machine so the actual installation isn't the issue.  I just can't figure out why it keeps giving me the red error light.

Thanks for your help though!
