I would like to upgrade my Gpu to a rtx 2060 and I read that I need a 500 watt power supply for that Gpu. I have a hp tg01-0170m with amd ryzen 5 3500 and 32gb ram and 400 watt power supply now. Is my desktop compatible with a 500 watt power supply?

Your HP TG01-0170M (Erica motherboard) is compatible with this HP 500 watt PSU: L05757-800.

However, HP has currently no (US) stock available, and other avenues (eBay, etc.) have either dried up for now, or are very expensive indeed.

Do you know how long something like this might take to be in stock because it’s letting me purchase it and saying it’s on back order but I don’t want to buy something that’s going to take like 6 months before it’s in stock but like 2 months however I can deal with.

Unfortunately due to the ongoing supply-side issues, it would be anyone's guess when parts show up. If you can get a hold of an actual person-to-person HP customer service agent, you could ask him/her what their understanding of "on backorder" means.

hi
What I often suggest for this type of replacement is to try to search with the part number to third-party sales sites, simply using a search engine
You can also have better prices.
Let Me Google That For You L05757-800
remember to ask the seller for confirmation, for the reference..
sometimes some can "cheat" and use a reference when not the right one
