I don't want to add a PCI-E 16 x  Graphic card  but a PCI-E 1X graphic card (there are several on the market)

Also the bios allows to choose between the internal or the discrete gaphic card so that I don't understand your reply.

everything is clear  but, since there are meny PCI-E 1x video cards on thr market,

I'm wondering if I can install one of these  even if the manual say  different (maybe there were not PCI-E 1x video cards on sales at the time of the maula printing)

I'm hoping that you will be able to help me. I've got a Pavilion p6-2170a and have just replaced the geforce gt530 with the gt730. I'm assuming that there is some PCIe 3 compatibility issue, as the system will not load past the first splash screen. Can you please tell me if there is a way I can get this to work? Alternativley, can you recommend a new card that will work with my system.

Hi,

Many of the NVIDIA 7xx graphics cards will not work in older HP PCs as they typically are UEFI BIOS enabled for compatibility with newer PCs.

I would RMA the card (refund) if it's not MSI and then try one the below graphics cards. These cards have a switch that will allow you to set the card to legacy mode for improved compatibility with older PCs.  Your PC has a 300 watt power suppky so there is no need to upgrade the power supply.

Thanks, unfortunately I've just heard back from my supplier and they won't accept the card back as it's been "used" :(. They have suggested that a bios update might fix the issue and to contact HP. Is there any chance of an updated bios working??

Would the GT630 be compatible with the legacy bios?

You can give the NVIDIA 630 a try.  However, know what the return plicy is before you buy.

I would suggest that you apply the latest posted BIOS update before attempting to install a new graphics card.

As for the NVIDIA GTX 770 or 780, you will need a bigger power supply.  Additionally, review this posted document.

The Corsair CX600 will meet the minimum requirements for the GTX 780 but the Corsair HX650 will give you more head room.

So the Corsair CX600 power supply will work perfect with the Sapphire R9 270X? Yes, I already installed the latest bios update for my pc.
