HP A6000 Will not turn on, but steady green light on power supply

HP a6000 desktop green light on power supply is steady on, but computer will not turn on. It was intermittent for about a month, but now it won't do anything anymore. I've tried all the basics, but still nothing. ie..unplug and hold power switch on for 10 secs, pulled out RAM and  R/R battery(did not beep when tried restarting) and reseated all connectors. Any suggestions?

sg1963,

If you are satisified that you performed all the steps in order, and noted the results, then OK. Otherwise see here:

You did not state an exact model #. You only stated a production series. The entire a6000 series used either a 250W or 350W PSU. The next step is to replace the power supply.  A suitable replacement would be the Corsair 430W: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026

Re: HP A6000 Will not turn on, but steady green light on power supply

The model # is: a6755y. Last night it decided to start working again, so while I had it working I did an entire diagnostic check which stated everything "passed" and it seemed to be working fine. This morning however, the fans turn on, but the light on the power switch stays off and no signal is being sent to the keyboard or monitor, although my wired optical mouse is lit. Does this still sound like the power supply?

Re-run the PSU test, step by step.  Your going to have the case open, so the next comment is also a test.

Look at the rear green light on the PSU. Is it "ON". When you press the power button, does the rear light go out, and the fans briefly "jiggle". If so, replace the PSU.
