Hi,
So I bought my mother a new HP laptop last-last Christmas, an HP 15 ex2---.
It was a 250GB so I wanted to upgrade her to a 1TB, just for futureproofing.
I got an HP EX900 M.2 1TB because I thought that HP would like itself.
However, after a year of use. It is, done. I've tried 3 different computers and none of them can read this drive.
All computers recognize there is a drive connected, yet will show no information, the drive can not be initialized or accessed in any way. All it shows is the product name.
It gives between 1-5 blinks on the activity light on boot. and after that it is blank.
Laptop will take a different SSD just fine.
S/N not recognized by HP website, which from what I can tell is a common problem with this product.
There is very important information on this drive and I'm hoping for some help / direction. Hopefully a response from an HP rep.
Regards,
Dakota

Hi @dakotad,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing issues with your HP Product.
Please follow the troubleshooting steps below to fix the issue.
- Check connections: Ensure that the M.2 drive is properly seated in the M.2 slot on your motherboard. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause issues.
- Update drivers and firmware: Visit the HP support website and check if there are any available driver or firmware updates for your EX900 SSD. Installing the latest updates may help resolve compatibility issues or bugs.
- Test on another system: If possible, try installing the M.2 drive on a different computer to see if the issue persists. This can help determine whether the problem lies with the drive itself or with your current system.
- Verify BIOS settings: Check your computer's BIOS settings to ensure that the M.2 slot is enabled and configured correctly. Consult your motherboard's manual for specific instructions on M.2 configuration.
- Use diagnostic software: Some SSD manufacturers provide diagnostic tools that can help identify and fix common issues. Check if HP offers any specific software for diagnosing problems with their SSDs.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
