HP G9 Pro 400 mini compatible rams

Hi, I tried to install a new ram with my HP G9 pro 400 mini. Not sure why it is mot compatible as both rams are almost the same on specs. It gives me 3 long red beeps followed by 2 white short beeps

Old ram:

SAMSUNG

8GB 1Rx8 PC4-3200AA x 2 ram sticks

Ram installed : 

Kingston 

16GB PC4-3200 x 2 ram sticks

KVR32S22S8/16

My suspicion is that you are likely facing a RAM compatibility issue. Whilst the Kingston KVR32S22S8/16 (ValueRAM) has the same DDR4-3200 speed, it differs in chip configuration and SPD settings, which can cause boot failures.

Possible Issues:

1. Rank & Chip Configuration Mismatch

   • HP BIOS can be picky with RAM rank and organization.

2. SPD Timings & JEDEC Profiles

   • Some OEM motherboards (like HP's) prefer specific SPD profiles. If the Kingston RAM has a slightly different CAS latency or voltage, the system may refuse to boot.

3. HP Whitelisting or BIOS Restrictions

   • Some HP business desktops are known to be picky with RAM brands.
   • The Samsung RAM is likely HP-certified, while the Kingston ValueRAM most likely is not.

 

Potential Fixes:

✔ Try a single Kingston RAM stick at a time to see if one module is defective.
✔ Reset CMOS (disconnect power, remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes, and try booting again).
✔ Look for proven industry standard RAM as listed below.

In summary: if the Kingston RAM remains incompatible -as I imagine it will, I would highly recommend for you to buy either: Crucial (such as: CT16G4SFRA32A.C8FF 2x16GB), Samsung (such as: Samsung M471A2G43BB2-CWE), or Micron (such as: Micron 16ATF2G64HZ-3G2J1 2x16GB) RAM modules.
