HP Pavilion Power 580-199ng
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently took out most of the parts from my pre-built HP Pavilion Power 580-199ng and transferred them into a new PC case for better airflow. Before transferring the parts, and when I was still using the pre-built, I upgraded the GTX 1060 6GB that was inside the pre-built to a Zotac RTX 2070 Mini, and now I have that original GPU lying around, being unused.

I am planning to make a very budget gaming build for my younger brother and to save on money, I was planning to put the GTX 1060 6GB that was inside my pre-built in his PC instead of spending an extra $200 on the GPU.

Is the 1060 that was inside my prebuilt compatible with other PCs or is it proprietary as it has a HP logo on it? The motherboard will be an Asus Prime A320M-K.

Thanks in advance and apologies if this is a stupid question, wanted to make sure.

Hi:

I don't believe the graphics card in your model is proprietary.

You should be able to use it in any PC that supports the card's specs.

I have many different model Dell graphics cards in my HP PC's.

Never had a problem.

You should certainly give it a try before spending money on another graphics card.
