it comes with a 512G internal SSD and 1T HD, I wonder how easy to replace 512G SSD with Samsung 1T EVO MVMe M.2 ?
Do I need to back up OS first, any instruction ? Many thanks

is this not a warranty question? how not to void it? IDK.
but the steps are the same on all PCs.
the only hitch is the recover partition.
if you clone that , the cloned oS runs but not the F12 recovery method image, (MS LIC. rules not to allow that)
but if brave yes.
- even backup data first.
- then remove old m.2 , add new. i place.
- then fresh install w10 from MS, it activates for free no matter what. but all apps are lost. (sometimes a blessing)
they sell USB m.2 dongles that you can put the old 512 inside and use that to find any lost data,
on new PC id clone it and and skip the HP recover partitions, but keep tools. or just do it all and F12 recover is just dead.
the image for F12 is encrypted and bound in some secret way to the boot media in place, (I for one do not care but there it is)
F2 recover is a virtual OS install partition, married to this PC and that m.2, the best I know.

Really appreciate for the detailed explanation, I plan to use it for video editing, it might be better to have a working F12, just in case. Good to know that I can get a USB m.2 dongles for the extra SSD, I will probably go with this option, so I can still keep HP warranty (I totally forgot that in the beginning). Thanks again !
