@graysticko,

It sounds like your HP ProDesk 400 G4 SFF is experiencing a power failure issue where the system isn’t fully powering on. Since you've already tried replacing the PSU, here are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Check the Power Button Behavior:

  • If the white light only glows while pressing the power button and disappears when released, it may indicate a motherboard issue, power button failure, or a short circuit.

2. Perform a Power Reset:

  • Unplug the power cord and disconnect all peripherals (USB devices, monitor, etc.).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to drain residual power.
  • Reconnect only the power cord and try turning it on again.

3. Check the CMOS Battery:

  • Sometimes, a dead or weak CMOS battery (CR2032 coin cell) can cause power issues. Try replacing it with a new one.
  • After replacing, reset the BIOS by pressing the CMOS clear button or jumper on the motherboard.

4. Inspect for Hardware Issues:

  • Check RAM Modules: Reseat or test with one RAM stick at a time.
  • Look for Motherboard Damage: Inspect for burnt components or swollen capacitors.
  • Try Booting Without the GPU (if applicable): If your PC has a dedicated GPU, remove it and try using integrated graphics.

5. Test with a Different Power Outlet or Power Cord:

  • Ensure the wall socket is working and try a different power cord if possible.

6. Motherboard Issue?

  • If none of the aforementioned steps work, the motherboard may have failed. You may need to consider a replacement or professional repair.

Let me know what you've tried and if you notice any changes!

Kind Regards,
