Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear community,


I have a HP Pavilion 690-0013nl, bought in Jan 2019, with a 128 GB stock SSD M.2 NVMe PCIe and a 1 TB SATA HDD (@7200 RPM). RAM is currenty 8 GB (1 slot).


Looking at the sunflower motherboard data sheet I'm having some trouble in figuring out how I can upgrade my PC's memories. The ideal solution would be to add a new SSD and another 8 GB of RAM.

The RAM upgrade seems easy and I'll probably choose this: CT8G4DFRA266 (Crucial, 8 GB)


The HDD is an harder choice: is there space for a new SSD? I would prefer not to swap the stock 128 GB SSD with a bigger one... If I could add a new SATA or NVMe HDD in addition to the other two drives it would be wonderful! Is there a free interface for me to do this?

You could get away with that crucial mem stick. If you use a tool like CPUz and read the timings of the existing stick, match that with the timings of a new stick and you are good to go.

 

Your motherboard has 3 Sata ports with one being used already. You can add another Sata SSD or Sata HDD drive to the other two ports, yes. Make sure you have a Sata data cable and the power plug from the power supply to connect it. The Sata SSD comes in a 2.5 inch form factor. Ok, I'll check for the cables... The data and power cables for the 2.5 inch SATA III drive are somewhat "universal", right? Maybe I should check if they are already inside the cabinet.

 

Anyway I'll probably go with

 

Samsung MZ-77Q2T0 2.5" 2000 GB Serial ATA III V-NAND MLC

 

Do you think it would be a nice choice?

Sata power and data cables are universal, yes.

Good choice on SSD.
