Pavilion 690-0040
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I just recently bought the HP Pavilion 690-0040 gaming desktop. Initially, I ran into some issues with the computer becoming unresponsive after a bout of gaming. After I reinstalled Windows and updated the BIOS and video card drivers, it seems to be holding up well. However, since then, I've noticed that the PSU fan doesn't really ever run. Is this normal with this unit? The case fan and CPU fans are both operational, but I think I only hear the PSU fan operate for a split second on startup. I've tried to stress it out with gaming and still haven't heard it kick on. I'm a little anxious with this PC after my initial experience. I appreciate the help.

Greetings,

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

Many new power supplies have a passive fan mode.

I would not worry about this if your PC is now stable when playing games.

Regards
