HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0020
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I'm reaching out in here to see if my someone can assist me with my inquiry.

I have an HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0020 and the PC takes extremely long to boot up. I want to upgrade the PC so the PC boots up faster.

The HP Gaming Desktop comes with a M.2 NVME SSD and a secondary 1TB HDD Drive. Can someone clarify why the PC has both a SSD and a HDD? And if I want to speed up my boot time, which one is more appropriate to upgrade. The NVME SSD or the HDD.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi:

The PC is designed for you to install Windows and your programs on the M.2 NVMe SSD, and the 3.5" mechanical hard drive should be used for storage only.

So, you should make sure that your PC is booting from the M.2 SSD, and that Windows is not installed on the much slower mechanical hard drive.

You can always disconnect the hard drive, buy a 1 TB NVMe SSD and just use that.
