HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-0170m
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

What is the version of m.2 PCIe bus in the new HP Pavilion Gaming desktop TG01-0170m? Is it Gen3 or Gen4?

Thanks,

I received my desktop and checked the m.2 slot. It is PCIe 4.0, but it still sucks because it doesn't support x4 lines. Just x2.

Greetings,

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

This is a very new PC.

There is very little documentation available at this HP Support site (Link), no motherboard image or chipset information.

The HP Store (Link) shows Zen2 processor support. But this PC could have an older AMD chipset which may not support PCIe Gen4.

I would contact HP Sales if no other forum member knows the answer to your question.

Regards

The PC is built on Erica AMD B550A.

The B550A chipset doesn't support PCIe 4.0 but it doesn't mean that m.2 socket cannot work with PCIe 4.0.

It depends on how it is connected to CPU. If it is directly connected to Zen 2 processor it would inherit the PCIe 4.0. Like it is done in ASRock b550am Gaming Motherboard. Otherwise it would be 3.0.
