Hi melessiar,

After searching around, I found some info for you.

These are the processor upgrades supported by your motherboard:

Socket type: AM2

Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades
  • AMD Athlon 64
  • Athlon 64 X2 up to 5000+
  • AMD Sempron

Link - http://h10010.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00757531&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en#N92

It looks like your system already has an AMD Athlon 64 X2.
The AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ is clocked at 2.6Ghz so that will give you a slight improvement.
I hope this info helps!
