HP Z2 G9 Tower PC
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi!

I have a HP Z2 G9 Tower PC and the PSU has a terrible coil whine when it's NOT under load.

Tried to find a replacement but when I search for the part on HP PartSurfer there is no link to buy...the Part No. is M86370-001.

Is there a replacement part for this?

Can I use a different 700W PSU?

Please let me know!

Cheers

Well, what do you know: from the comfort of my office chair, it appears to me that HP-UK has your 700-watt power supply with p/n: M86370-001 in stock:

Hi,

Thanks, I was not lazy, tried to find the part on the HP website but cannot - I did not know that I have to go to parts.hp.com and PartSurfer did not offer a link...Also this HP Parts website search is a bit confusing too, I had switch to "Order multiple parts" to even get some results.

It is quite expensive though, can I user a 700W PSU from another brand?

@mn_cc,

Unfortunately not, your PC only accepts HP proprietary power supplies. I looked everywhere to get you a better pricing, but that particular (HP) purchase option is all I could find at the moment.

@mn_cc,

You're quite welcome!

When/if you go ahead with the HP purchase, please share with us how that went.
