Hi all,

I tried to do some research but got some confusing results. I understand HP z840 is made to support TB2. 

I'd like to use a TB3 card but unsure which one would be supported by this.

Eg here it says that Gigabyte Titan Ridge "should" work but no report back whether it is:

Here it says that both HP TB2 and TB3 cards have the same cable going to MB so should work:

Could someone confirm whether it is indeed possible to use a TB3 card on HP z840 and which one would deffo work? Links?

 

What I would like to do is use an egpu enclosure. I currently use Lenovo Legion for my Surface Pro and would love the ability to use that on Z840. I seen some suggestions to use barebones pcie to NVME to thunderbolt suggestions but I do need an external HDD/SDD support in addition to a GPU as Legion currently gives me.

 

Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated ❤️
