Hello All,
HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI resulted in "Hard Drive Smart Check Passed - Short DST Check Failed", the Windows and all program became super slow. Had to re-installed the windows 10. I am concerned if I install other softwares not it became frozen again. Still Hard Drive Smart Check Passed - Short DST Check Failed" is out there. This is the failure ID: U083W1-8MXA74-GXPQQ1-60U3030.
1) Is this problem fixable without having hard disk replaced?
2) If the hard disk change is required, how much would be the cost for 500 GB or 1 TB traditional hard disk ? Can I upgrade it to SSD with the same cost range of traditional HDD. Wondering whether this model support SSD.
3) Where to purchase those hard disks? Any tools or other parts required to replace new SSD? I am planning to do it myself if that it is not a complicated job.
Your help and assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you for asking before you leaped. Yes you can change out to an SSD 2.5" hard drive. The only tools you need are a Phillips #2, and a plastic putty knife. I like to have a small box of popsicle sticks.
Your computer is supposed to have a 1TB 2.5" drive. Service manual drive removal Video
As you pry the case I find the popsicle sticks inserted as you proceed keep it from snapping closed. As you had a !TB, keep that size.
