My hard drive had been acting up for the last few weeks.  Last night, I turned it off and when I turned it on, it said the hard drive had failed.  Of course this happened a few weeks after the 1 year HP warranty expired.  The hard drive is a Toshiba hard drive which has a longer warranty period though.  Toshiba stated the warranty has to be addressed with HP.  How is this handled with the specific part (hard drive) that has a warranty beyond the HP one when the manufacturer is saying it needs to be dealt with by HP?

Hello
you have a computer, sold complete, all items are under HP warranty
regardless of whether the manufacturer of an item, be it hdd graphics card, offers a superior warranty
it remains under the cover of hp here

so everything that is in the computer remains under the hp warranty which is generally one year
