For the last 4 days my hard drive is on (Read/write) all the time. On the task manager it says 100% usage. That is not normal. What could be the problem?

@Pakss,

Follow these steps 1 by 1 until you find the issue.

Let me know if it helps, and which item on the list fixed it.

Hi! I've tried your solutions and here is what happened:

1- first of all I don't have a command prompt like in the example but a Powershell (admin) guess it's the same thing Could not turn off the Window search so I had to disable it permenently and the did not help.

2- Can't update the drivers with the free version of Driver easy, my desktop is 1 month old so the drivers should be ok, At least thats what the HP support assistant tells me.

3- I have no superfetch on my computer. Maybe it has another name?

4- I performed the checkdisk /f /r with no result on the HD.

5- I reset the virtual memory  and deleted the temp files with no result either.

6- I disable McAfee no result.

7- I don't have or use Chrome

8- I don't have  storahci.sys.

So what now?

Thanks anyway.

I went on line and had a chat with one of the techs and he told me I had a lot of malware (from Corel and other serious companies)  on my computer and that I had to upgrade my McAffe antivirus and he was ready to give me a hand installing it. I already had McAffee installed on my computer but he said it wasn't good enough. So I told him that I would do it myself. So I went back on HP Chat to ask for help in removing the malware and after they read the first chat report I lost contact with the thec and they never called back like they did during the first chat. So I went on Malwarebytes site to ask for help and after running all software, cleaners and scanner they told me my computer was clean, no malware and my hard drive had stopped running all the time in the meantime. So my guesses are my computer was doing the big upgrade to windows whatever in the backgroung and that the techs from HP were phishing me to get my credit card number. Like it says when you start a  chat with them they writ at the beginning not to give out your credit card number on that site that if they need it they will transfer you to a secure site. How do I rate HP help?

Very Bad, got better help from Malwarebytes and it was simple and they never took control of my machine. Hats off to Malwarebytes.
