Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My desktop (HPG5000 series) stopped recognising my DVD player /writer. I ve tried system restore. I worked through the HP help programme. I got error 39. I am stuck for ideas.

This is probably an operating system issue.

Microsoft Windows 7 is EOL (end of life) as of January 14, 2020.

You can try a bootable Linux variant to verify that the DVD drive is still working.

Thank you Erico! I cannot load any discs as the drive is the only CD/DVD drive on my computer.

Thank you for your interest, and reply.
