I have run a Long-drive test 3 times now using the HP Support Assistant / My Dashboard and the Test freezes at 90% each time. In addition it takes about 4 hours or more to get to the 90%. I am trying to get a report detail because I think my hard drive is going bad and Costco needs this information to move into their "warranty coverage area" and my Laptop is under their warranty for only 30 more days.
Why does it keep freezing? Anything I can do to make it work properly?

Use one of the manufacturer warranty tools. I am guessing you have seagate or Western Digital (Hitachi).
Western digital requires a boot USB

Sometimes all you need is a printout of the S.M.A.R.T test if the result states "uncorrectable errors":
