Heat Problem on HP OMEN GT12-0475nd Desktop

Hi everyone.

 

About 6 weeks ago, I purchased a brand new HP OMEN GT12-0475nd desktop, mainly for gaming. In the Omen Gaming Hub application, I immediately noticed that the CPU seems to be running suspiciously hot. I am a little worried so I wanted to share the temperatures I am getting with you to understand whether they are at all reasonable:

 

  • At 0% CPU utilization, the CPU is at about 55-60 degrees Celsius. For example, as I am writing this, it's currently at 57 degrees.
  • With a Chrome browser full of open tabs, a youtube video running and maybe an extra application or two open, at about 2-3% utilization, it reaches 65-70 degrees
  • Modern videogames on maximum graphical settings will have it running around 88 degrees, with peaks around 92-93 degrees.

I did some general research and found that these temperatures are too high relative to the CPU utilisation. And that's especially given that the PC is brand new and completely clean and dust free. But does any of you have experience with this model or with other HP Omen desktops and can speak for whether this is normal or not? I am trying to figure out if and how to address this so your support is very much appreciated.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, 

To get the answer to this question, 50° to 70°  is absolutely fine. While gaming, your hardware needs to operate at a higher rate to ensure performance levels are met. So, naturally, your components get much hotter.
